José Javier Pérez Contreras was born in the middle of the Greater Antilles in the Caribbean, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on August 7, 1994.
From an early age he showed his special talent for drawing and painting, being remarkable its sensitive perception.
His work is characterized by the use of impressionistic techniques with expressionist tendencies inroads on issues of pastoral landscapes and tropical marine Antilles.
His chief mentor and teacher is the famous painter Alberto Houellemont who in turn was a student of Yoryi Morel.
José Javier had three drawing courses at Casa de Chavon, a subsidiary established in Santo Domingo Altos de Chavon Cultural Center Foundation.
Mark Lineweaver and Carlos Montesinos were their teachers.
